Philip Slocki began dancing at the age of seven in Clear Lake. At the age of twelve, he left home to study ballet at Kirov Academy of Ballet in Washington, D.C where he continued his training until the age of eighteen. Since joining Texas Ballet Theater in 2008, Mr. Slocki has enjoyed performing roles such as Reinfield in Ben Stevenson’s Dracula, Bluebird in The Sleeping Beauty and Agnes Dei in Mozart Requiem. Phillip is now in his 12th season with Texas Ballet Theater.

Why did you begin dancing?
To occupy my time while waiting on my sister and to calm my competitive side

Fancy Free

What is your favorite ballet to perform/what is your favorite role you have performed?
Mercutio in Romeo and Juliet

What surprised you the most about being a professional dancer?
How quickly you need to pick things up

The Guitar

Do you enjoy teaching or choreographing?
Yes I enjoy both and appreciate the opportunity to do both with TBT

What other talents do you have besides dancing?
Singing and playing the guitar; swimming and fishing

What outdoor activities do you enjoy?
Fishing, camping and hiking with my dogs
