Michelle Taylor came to Texas Ballet Theater from her hometown of York, Maine. Beginning at age fifteen, Michelle trained extensively with Texas Ballet Theater School. She was awarded her first contract with Texas Ballet Theater in 2006 and is now dancing in her fourteenth season. Her favorite roles have been Alice in Ben Stevenson’s Alice in Wonderland, Carabosse in Ben Stevenson’s The Sleeping Beauty, Fairy Godmother in Cinderella, Green Lady in Peer Gynt, Snow Queen in The Nutcracker and Rachel in Val Caniporoli’s Lambarena. She has also enjoyed the opportunity to perform in George Balanchine’s Serenade, Jonathan Watkin’s Crash, and the “Not Fade Away” Girl in Christopher Bruce’s Rooster. In February of 2019, Michelle and her husband Matt welcomed their first child, Maverick.

Age 5

Why did you begin dancing?
Because I like pink, and I loved putting on shows for crowds when I was little

Romeo and Juliet and Dracula

What is your favorite ballet to perform/what is your favorite role you have performed?
Alice in Alice in Wonderland, Carabosse in The Sleeping Beauty, and Dracula

What surprised you the most about being a professional dancer?
How rewarding it is

What is your favorite movie/TV show?
Disney’s Cinderella (1950), Miss Congeniality, and F.R.I.E.N.D.S.

What profession other than yours would you like to attempt?
I just started a Youtube channel, Ohhappytay88. Go check it out! Other than that, I’d be an actress.

If you could have a vacation home, where would it be?
At home in Maine

What would your best friends say about you?
That I’m not a nature girl

The orchestra warm-up

Who has been most influential to your life of dancing?
My parents

What was that one “click” moment that affirmed you were made for ballet?
When I performed in The Nutcracker for the first time when I was 8. I was a Polichinelle.

Which member of FRIENDS do you identify with most?
Rachel for sure. (My old car was named after her, but my new car is named after Chandler!)
