Amanda Fairweather is in her ninth season with Texas Ballet Theater. Originally from Orange, California, she began training at the Academy of Dance under Merle Sepel and Rebecca Tsivkin. Where she studied RAD, completing solo seal. Amanda attended SUNY Purchase College, graduating cum laude. In 2011 after attending Texas Ballet Theater summer intensive she was asked to join as a trainee. Amanda has enjoyed performing Ben Stevenson’s Romeo and Juliet balcony scene, Dracula, Jiri Kylian’s Petite Mort, Christopher Wheeldon’s DGV, William Forsythe’s In The Middle Somewhat Elevated, Herald Landers’ Etudes, Ohad Noharn’s Minus 16 and Val Caniparoli’s Without Borders. She is married to fellow company member Riley Moyano.

Why did you begin dancing?
I saw my cousins dancing and told my parents I wanted to dance

What is your favorite ballet to see?
Romeo and Juliet

What is your favorite ballet to perform/what is your favorite role you have performed?
A bride in Dracula and performing In The Middle Somewhat Elevated

What surprised you the most about being a professional dancer?
How lucky we are to be able to do something we love as our job

What sound do you love?
Thunderstorms

What’s your favorite food from the State Fair of Texas?
Funnel cake and corn dogs

What’s your guilty pleasure?
Sweets

What outdoor activities do you enjoy?
Walking/hiking with my dog and relaxing at the beach

The New England Patriots!

What would your best friends say about you?
I’m not as shy as people think I am.

Who has been most influential to your life of dancing?
My family because they have been so supportive

When are you the most nervous, if at all?
Right before I go on stage

Brunch but food wise I love pizza!
