The Texas Ballet Theater School Professional Division is designed to prepare advanced pre-professional dancers for a professional ballet career. Admittance to this program is by audition or invitation only. This morning program is recommended as a supplement to enrollment in the TBTS Advanced Level in the evenings and weekends, though enrollment in both programs is not required.
Ballet class will be held three mornings a week, followed by Pointe, Variations/Repertoire, and/or rehearsal. Classes and rehearsals will be taught by Texas Ballet Theater Artistic Staff and Texas Ballet Theater School instructors.
Dancers in the Professional Division will participate in a variety of performances and community outreach programs. At the discretion of the Artistic Director, dancers may be given the valuable opportunity to attend Company rehearsals or perform with the Company.
Professional Division students who are also enrolled in the TBTS Advanced Level will attend evening Ballet, Pointe, and Pas de Deux classes as well as Saturday Ballet, Modern, and Jazz classes. Advanced Level dancers have the opportunity to perform in Ben Stevenson’s The Nutcracker and the TBTS Spring Performance. Advanced Level students also have the opportunity to become a member of the Performance Group for additional community performance opportunities.
TBTS does not provide housing or academic classes for out of town students but can offer recommendations. Students who have not completed high school are expected to continue their education at home or online.
