Summer Programs

Texas Ballet Theater School’s 2008 Summer Intensive is an opportunity to gain new skills and improve technique in many dance styles.  You will be working with many current and former professional dancers and teachers of international stature.  First and foremost, you will be working with artistic staff of Texas Ballet Theater including Artistic Director, Ben Stevenson O.B.E., Tim O’Keefe, Li Anlin and Anna Donovan.  You will also work with our School staff and on occasion, current members of the Company. In addition, there will be guest teachers to complement our staff.  These will include Janie Parker and Lauren Anderson, both former Principal dancers of Houston Ballet, master teachers Steve Brule and Li Chou Cheng, and former Principal dancer of Houston Ballet and Broadway dancer, Krissy Richmond.  Guest instructors will each teach one week of the summer intensive.

Classes will include ballet technique, pointe, men’s class, variations, pas de deux, character, modern, jazz and pilates.  Students will have 5 to 6 hours of dance classes a day, 5 days a week and 2 to 3 hours on Saturday.  You will also have rehearsals of repertoire for the showcase performance on July 25th, the last day of the summer intensive.

Additional classes in dance related studies will include viewing films of Texas Ballet Theater in performance, discussions with current and former professional dancers on their careers, acting in ballets and music.
