Kathryn Warakomsky named Principal of
Texas Ballet Theater School, Fort Worth Campus

North Texas – Ben Stevenson, artistic director of Texas Ballet Theater, today announced his appointment of
Kathryn Warakomsky to Principal of Texas Ballet Theater School, Fort Worth Campus, effective immediately.  Warakomsky is a former Principal Dancer with Houston Ballet and former Houston Ballet Academy faculty member.  She has served as an instructor with the Fort Worth Campus of Texas Ballet Theater School for the past three years.

Stevenson said, “I am thrilled that Kathy has accepted this new position.  Building a world-class school has been a significant priority to me and I know Texas Ballet Theater School will thrive under her leadership.”  Stated Warakomsky, “I am honored to accept this role.  I look forward to growing the School and developing capable dancers for world-renowned companies such as Texas Ballet Theater.”

About Kathryn Warakomsky
Kathryn Warakomsky was born in Boston, Mass. She holds a BFA in dance from the State University of New York at Purchase. She was a principal dancer with Ballet de Santiago, Chile, and Houston Ballet.  She has over 20 years performing experience dancing lead roles in the major classical ballets including Swan Lake, The Nutcracker, The Sleeping Beauty, Giselle and others plus numerous contemporary works including such notable choreographers as Ben Stevenson, George Balanchine, Kenneth MacMillan, Jiri Kylian, and Christopher Bruce.  She was an instructor with Houston Ballet Academy for two years where she staged and rehearsed many pieces for the upper school.  Kathy has been teaching for the Fort Worth Campus of Texas Ballet Theater School since 2003.

It is the long-standing goal of Artistic Director Ben Stevenson to develop a school of national and international importance supplying the North Texas community with professional instruction in the art of classical ballet.  The Dallas Campus of Texas Ballet Theater School offers Classical Ballet, Modern, Jazz, Tap, Hip Hop, Pas de Deux, Adult Ballet and Lyrical classes; the Fort Worth Campus includes classes in Classical Ballet, Modern and Jazz offering students a well-rounded dance education.
