Student Matinée
Each season, Texas Ballet Theater offers daytime programs especially for student audiences at a greatly reduced student rate. As part of its mission to extend the benefits of ballet to North Texas school children, the Ballet participates in the Student Matinee Program, which allows Texas Ballet Theater to perform The Nutcracker to children who otherwise might not be exposed to the art form of ballet.
The Student Matinee Program engages young people and their families in ballet activities and hopefully inspires in them a life-long appreciation of the art of ballet.
The Ballet promotes creativity and development in the students who will attend the performance. Texas Ballet Theater is delighted that this partnership will help to expand innovative educational programs that reflect the diverse North Texas population and its culture.
Through the Student Matinee Program, more than 20,000 students each year experience special performances of The Nutcracker offered to children from area school districts. Also, 1,000 students from across the nation view live broadcasts of The Nutcracker due to a Region XI website (Distance Learning Presentations) in collaboration with Performing Arts Fort Worth’s Children Education Programming.
