Texas Ballet Theater School Fort Worth Academy offers programs designed to meet the needs of each individual dancer, whether planning a career in dance or not, while also providing a sound foundation for those who will proceed to serious ballet training. We offer classes in classical ballet, modern, jazz and creative movement for students of all skill levels ages 3 to adult. Classes are conducted in a safe and nurturing environment and include professional instruction from our skilled teaching staff.
Our Creative Movement classes are a great way to introduce young children to the fundamentals of dance. These classes are designed to build interest in dancing, strengthen muscles, introduce a basic vocabulary, and develop a sensibility of the artistic and performance qualities that make up dance.
Intermediate students are introduced to a progressing level of study that incorporates elements from major training styles, including Royal Academy of Dance, Cecchetti and Vaganova. We also conduct classes in modern and jazz to offer intermediate students a well-rounded dance education.
For the serious student, the Fort Worth Academy is a training ground for talented dancers to potentially join the Company of Texas Ballet Theater as a trainee or apprentice. We offer a complete and comprehensive training program for the pre-professional dancer. The emphasis is on posture, placement, coordination, dance quality and musicality, combined with a firm technique within the limits of each person's own development.
All students enrolled at the Fort Worth Academy have the opportunity to showcase their talent on stage. Select students are featured in Texas Ballet Theater’s performances of The Nutcracker at the Bass Performance Hall in December. And at the end of the school year, each student participates in the Spring Performances.
The Fort Worth Academy follows the traditional August to May school calendar, with additional classes and Summer Intensive program offered during the summer months.
New students register for classes by contacting the Fort Worth Academy at 817-763-0207, ext. 108. New students ages 10 and up are required to attend an Audition Class for placement into the appropriate Class Level.
Texas Ballet Theater School maintains a policy of non-discrimination with regard to race, color, sex, religion, national origin and sexual orientation.
