Betsy McBride is originally from Coppell, Texas. At age 14 she attended Texas Ballet Theater’s School and performed with the Company in Coppélia and as “Clara” in The Nutcracker. After her performance as “Clara” she was invited to join the Company. Ms. McBride was an American Ballet Theatre National Training Scholar and performed as one of four girls in George Balanchine’s Mozartiana during ABT’s tour of Texas. In 2007 Betsy was awarded the top award, “Grand Prix”, at the Youth American Grand Prix Regional competition and was also a finalist at the 2012 Helsinki International Ballet Competition. Some of her principal roles include Ben Stevenson’s The Sleeping Beauty, Cinderella, “Svetlana” in Ben Stevenson’s Dracula, "Green Lady" and "Solveig" in Ben Stevenson's Peer Gynt, “Sugar Plum Fairy,” “Snow Queen” and “Lead Flower” in Ben Stevenson's The Nutcracker, as well as Pas de Trois in Glen Tetley's Voluntaries. This is Ms. McBride’s seventh season with Texas Ballet Theater.
