LaWonda Hunter
Ms. Hunter is a native of Washington D.C. and an alumni of the Duke Ellington School of the Performing Arts in Washington D.C., where she received her early training in ballet, under Saundra Fortune and Capital Ballet, several modern techniques such as Horton, Graham, and Limon, Luigi Jazz, Tap, and Musical Theater.
Ms Hunter, is a former soloist with the Dallas Black Dance Theatre getting to work with master choreographers and teachers like Alonzo King, Talley Beatty, Gene Hill Sagan, and Katherine Dunham to name a few, a former member of Bruce Woods Dance Co., and a guest artist with Lula Washington Dance Co. in Los Angeles, CA.
She has been a resident choreographer for several theater companies such as Soul Rep Theater Co., The Black Academy of Arts and Letters, and most recently Jubilee Theater. Ms. Hunter has taught Modern dance in the DBDT Academy, Ballet in the Junior Player's after school program, choreography in Fort Worth Workforce Solutions program, presently Hip Hop at Freestyle Dance Productions, and a Modern Dance sub-teacher at Ballet Academy of Texas.
La'Hunter, founded her own Contemporary Modern Dance company under the name In Flight Dance Theatre which premiered at the Naomi Bruton Theater in Dallas in 2005, and has choreographed for several Plays and Musical productions around the metroplex.
Ms .Hunter holds a Bachelors of Arts from Texas Women's University, is a Culinary Artist, and a Massage Therapist.
